Ghana2007  > Events > Trip to Kumasi
Kumasi is the second largest city in Ghana. It is often referred to as the "Garden City", because of its beautiful flowers and abundant plants. Kumasi is located in the center of the country. It is northwest of Tema and approximagtely a 5-hour drive from Accra. It is the home of Ghana's current president, John Kufuor, and the former Secretary-General of the United Nations, Kofi Annan.

Kusami has several ethnic groups, of which the largest is the Ashanti.

We visited this city of over 1.5 million people, October 9 and 10. Sankofa Travel Tours made the arrangements for our weekend stay. Visit their site on-line at: http://www.sankofameroetours.com/.
